8x fun autumn activities for kids

We love autumn! There’s a lot of fun things that you can do in autumn; go for a walk in the forest, jump in puddles and get crafty with chestnuts. These are our 8 tips for fun autumn activities for kids!

Autumn activity 1: Go for a walk in the forest

When the leaves turn red, orange and yellow it’s time to venture outside! Not only does the forest become one big playground full of colour, it’s also very healthy to spend your time in the fresh air. Two birds with one stone!

Autumn activity 2: Jump in puddles

Admit it: When you were a kid you loved jumping in puddles as hard as humanly possible. So plan an afternoon in which your kids can get down and dirty and let them jump in all the puddles they can find! You’ll see that they won’t be able to stop smiling for the rest of the day.

Autumn activity 3: Get creative with chestnuts

Kids love to  play with their hands. A fun autumn activity is therefore to get creative with chestnuts! Collect chestnuts in the forest, buy a ball of string and a box of wooden skewers and get busy! You can give your kids an assignment, like making a little man or a spiderweb, or you can let them go crazy. The best creation – which are all of them of course – gets a cookie!

Autumn activity 4: Collect autumn leaves and make a collage

A day out ánd a craft day? It can’t get any better! Take your kids out and collect autumn leaves in all colours and sizes and take them home to make a collage. It can also be hanged as autumn decoration when it’s finished. And when the leaves dry out you can always go out and make a new one!

Autumn activity 5: Bake an apple pie

Autumn isn’t complete without apple pie. Baking an apple pie is a fun activity to do with the kids on a rainy autumn day. And it also tastes very good!

Autumn activity 6: Draw the autumn

An afternoon of drawing is a always a good idea, but it’s an even better one on a rainy Sunday! Get comfortable and make drawings of what reminds you of autumn. You’ll be amazed by what ends up on paper.

Autumn activity 7: Storytime

There’s no better feeling than curling up on the couch when it’s raining and thundering outside. A good story fits perfectly with that scenario! Grab a pile of story books and spend the afternoon reading stories to your kids.

Autumn activity 8: Make a wishlist for Santa

When it comes to presents, you can’t start early enough with making the wishlists! These days, gingerbread and candy canes are already in stores in September and you’ll hear the first Christmas hit blasting through your supermarket speakers before it’s even December. But it’s also just very fun to spend the afternoon with your kids while making creative wishlists.
