4 super fun birthday party theme ideas for boys

The birthday of your little boy is very special. All the more reason to celebrate it with friends and family. It’s also a very good excuse to go crazy with a theme! We’ve made a list of 4 super fun birthday party theme ideas for boys!

Theme 1: Space

The world that your child knows is still very small, but before you know it he’ll be dreaming about travelling to outer space. A nice birthday theme is therefore a space theme. You can cut out moons and stars and hang them up in the room. It’s also fun to make a photo corner and decorate the background with space-themed wrapping paper.

As for snacks: bake cookies in moon and star shapes, make sandwiches and cut them in the shape of a moon and decorate homemade brownies with powdered sugar to make it look like the milky way. An activity to keep the boys busy with is making drawings of all their travels with their very own spaceships!

Theme 2: Favourite storybook

Does your son have a favourite storybook? Then transform the birthday party into the world of the story! For example, take Miffy as a theme. Blow up photocopies from the book to decorate the room. You can also place a cardboard Miffy cutout that the kids can take pictures with (or have their picture taken!).

To stay in theme with the snacks you can make cookies or a cake in the shape of Miffy. A fun activity is to read the Miffy storybooks to the kids.

Theme 3: Vehicles

A birthday party with vehicles as a theme is perfect for all the cool little boys who love everything that moves! Take all the toy cars, trucks, and bikes that you can find and use them as decoration. As a plus, your decorations can also serve as the entertainment for the boys!

Fun bites that match the theme are cookies shaped as cars or the wheels of a car. You can also decorate the cake with (clean) miniature cars. When the boys get tired of playing, you can sit them down on the couch and put on the film Cars.

Theme 4: A day at the petting zoo

You can never go wrong with an animal-themed birthday party. Almost every child loves animals! Put your son in his favourite animal onesie, place all the stuffed animals in the play zone and decorate the room with photocopies of animals and balloons with animals on them.

Snack ideas: place candy pig heads on skewers, bake cookies shaped like animals and decorate the cake with plastic animals from the toybox. Do you want to take a field trip? Take the kids to the petting zoo!
